APHC Committees

Program Committee

The Program Committee produces two conferences each year – a hybrid conference in the spring and a virtual conference in the fall. The committee meetings are scheduled as needed. They decide on the conference location, the dates and the themes, which are approved by the APHC Board of Directors. They also decide on abstract submission criteria, including types of presentations, abstract requirements and submission deadlines. The Committee members decide on whom to invite as plenary speakers, and abstract acceptances and rejections. They help with mass distribution of conference communications and attend the conferences.

Education Committee

The Education Committee meets every other month. They produce the Roundtable each month, deciding on topics, inviting presenters and facilitating the discussions. They develop longitudinal guidelines for professionalism education for medical students, residents and fellows. They collaborate with other health professions groups in developing professionalism education guidelines when requested. The members review guidelines for interprofessional professionalism education developed by national organizations devoted to inter-professionalism education and determine what guidelines APHC should endorse. They review educational materials by outside organizations looking to partner with APHC and offer an endorsement recommendation to the APHC Board of Directors.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee works to identify ways to increase membership. They work with other APHC committees to maximize membership. The members are also responsible for sending out calls for position nominations. They identify members to nominate for upcoming elections and assist nominees with the election process, including gathering nominee information to be distributed to the APHC membership.

Committee members manage the elections including sending out ballots and voting reminders. They assist with sending announcements of new officers and board members.

APHC – Professional Formation Newsletter Committee

The Professional Formation Update newsletter has been published monthly since December 2017. It is sent to over 20,000 recipients. Committee members are asked to submit at least three articles per year or solicit articles from colleagues. Articles are 750 words or less. Committee members also work to collect announcements and updates that are published in the newsletter.
